Troubleshooting - EdgeStar Refrigerators & Freezers
 
Issue Possible Cause Solution
No power There was a power failure Restore the power supply
The plug is not correctly inserted into the socket Insert the plug correctly into the socket
The power cord is damaged Contact customer service. Only authorized servicers should replace damaged cords
The thermostat may on off position Check the thermostat control is not set to "Off"
The power supply voltage is too low Move the unit onto another circuit with the correct voltage
The refrigerator or freezer is noisy The unit is unleveled Place unit on a level surface
A high ambient temperature will force the compressor to work harder and be noisy Minimize the heat in the room
Compressor making a loud knocking sound Contact customer service
Unit is being moved This may be a normal rattling sound that is caused by the compressor
The doors will not close completely The unit is unleveled Make sure the unit is on a level surface
Improperly installed door If you reversed the door, check to make sure that it is properly installed. (Specific models only)
Food packages may be blocking the door Arrange the food so the packaging material is not interfering with the door gasket
Shelves may be incorrectly installed Make sure the shelves do not prevent the door from closing
Gasket(s) are dirty Clean the door gasket(s)

Food is freezing

 Food is touching the back wall Reposition the food so it does not touch the back wall
Thermostat set to lowest setting Turn the thermostat to a warmer setting
