How Does It Work?

Our wide selection of refrigerator/freezers are easy to operate. Simply plug them in, set the thermostat and cool or freeze your articles to the temperatures that you desire.

Refrigerators and Freezers are heat removers

Refrigeration works to remove the heat of a product. Think of refrigerators and freezers as heat movers. They take the heat stored in an item placed inside of it and remove that heat to outside the unit. This is why after placing a hot item in a refrigerator it feels "cold" to you, once you remove it.

Compressors are workhorses

Refrigerant-based cooling systems or compressor based cooling is the refrigerating method that is employed by all EdgeStar refrigerators and freezers. This method of cooling is capable of operating in ambient temperatures that thermoelectric refrigerating is unable too, such as garages, and/or near heat dissipating appliances.

Chest Refrigerators/Freezers keep cooler longer

EdgeStar's Portable Fridge/Freezers are chest freezers and refrigerators. They are ideal for storing larger items because there are no shelves to restrict the size of the items you cool or freeze. Because the items are stacked, and organized with wire baskets, EdgeStar's Fridge/Freezers are well suited for long-term storage and for refrigerating and freezing items in bulk.

The useable storage area of a chest freezer will be the same amount as the listed capacity. EdgeStar Portable Fridge/Freezers are extremely energy efficient. The top-opening door allows only the warmest air to escape while the weight of the door helps to form a tighter seal when it is closed. Chest fridge/freezers also offer you quiet operation, outstanding temperature retention in power outages, and can be defrosted more easily than a comparable upright unit. All in all, a chest freezer is a smart investment.

Upright Refrigerators and Freezers

EdgeStar's upright refrigerator and cube freezers are a perfect choice for short term storage, while a wide variety of shelves, allow for more storage arrangements than comparable chest freezers allot.

An upright refrigeration system allows you eye-level access to upper compartments, making all items conveniently within reach. If space is a concern, an upright refrigerator is an ideal choice.
